Seriously, have you ever followed a recipe where there is an image of the finished dish? and when you follow the recipe yourself, you get an horrible mess that looks like it has been trampled on repeatedly by an a battalion of Russian paratroopers with wooden spoons for boots?
One way of looking at it is to say that you're doing it wrong. You can't follow a recipe. You don't know how to cook, you stupid klutz...
But...
The truth is, of course, that there are such things as professional food photographers. There are probably such things as roasted chicken polish to polish roasted chicken with to give it that oh so mouthwatering lustre on the proof. Salad lacquer to give salad that firm fresh appearance. Probably fake plastic food, made in china, to replace those bits that really can't ever be made appetizing.
Well... I didn't exactly follow a recipe. In fact there is no recipe. I don't like to call it a recipe anyway. It's more of an improvisation I came up with because it smelled like it would taste good. I don't like recipes. I don't like writing recipes or instructions for things I half invented, half made up on the fly at some random point in time because I felt like it or it was necessary. The problem with writing a recipe out of things you do means that you are somewhat obligated to follow that recipe you wrote. When you're just cooking for no reason, you can improvise (I tend to use that word a lot in this post), improve on stuff and if you're missing an ingredient, heck you're not missing an ingredient, there's no ingredient list for a missing ingredient to find itself being missed from. Know what I mean?
anyway what was I writing about. Oh yes. I cook pasta. That's most of what I can do. and I usually do a sauce thing. It more of a kind of bare-naked curry (or what we locally call curry) with cheat ingredient to make it have more taste/texture. and usually whatever meat lying around. It's in the same vein as the leftover pizza recipe(darn..) I wrote once... can't find it. anywho...
As shown above. It wasn't meant to be anything special. And it does turn out to not look like anything special. But guess what, food tends to do that. so there.
this is a pointless random post.
